Utah County
Health Utah County boasts
of the second-highest birthrate and the second-lowest death rate and the fourth
longest life span. Factors contributing to these high rankings include Utah’s
low crime rate and excellent health care. Utah County’s
all-cause mortality rate is close to 20 percent lower than the U.S. average.
Utah County is one of the lowest counties in Utah as far as suicide, homicide
and crash mortality rates. While heart disease
is a leading cause of death in Utah County, the rate in Utah 27 percent lower
than the U.S. rate. Utah County,
according to Utah’s Healthy People 2000, (compiled by the Utah
Department of Health), has one of the healthiest profiles in the state. Utah
County has fewer smokers and therefore, fewer cases of lung cancer.
